Once upon a time.....as all fairytales begin,

An entry level for the LBL fairytale contest, it opens with a short narrative introducing the characters such as the evil step mother...


And following that you find yourself in the midst of a tragic tale told in a film noir style set amidst the seedy streets of Sacktropolis....



Menace hangs in the air as you travel among the dangerous inhabitants and face the trauma of living lost on the cold streets



Fortunately some kindly sacks come to your rescue and you find yourself in a land filled with fun and friendship

It's no secret that there's a contest for a crown going on, and though this is an entry for that contest you would never know it. It is wildly different than any entries I've seen, and grasps the real spirit of what a fairytale is... a story with a message. Everybody knows Enoch makes levels where humor enshrouds darkness, but this one is even more fun than Sackrelige! I think the storytelling is artfully done as follows. The creator bothers to set you up by means of a mini-game. This puts the player in the context of play before story time. Genius! I was all "Lah lah lah, I'm jumping around" and then the story kicked in. Without spoiling, I can say the story brings it's moral starkly to the forefront of your perception by artistic means. Let this level change your life the way the original story was meant to.

Excellent story as always Enoch. Great take on a the fairy tale.

 

I think its a really interesting take on this story. A girl who's life is so horrible that she escapes to a dreamland where everything is colorful and the world is fun and friendly. Of course it's LBP and Mm. The reappearance of her stepmother snaps her out of her coma and back into the harsh reality that is her world. I hope people pick up on the fact that she was escaping her life with LBP because i think that plenty of people that play the game, who really love LBP can relate in some way. Using LBP as an escape. maybe not an escape form something so dark as is in this story.. but escape even from a hard day at school or work or as a small pick me up when feeling blue.

I'm not gonna lie, that Intro was amazing.
Well, not just the intro, the whole thing actually.
I thought that the level delivered a great message, and certainly deserves 5 stars and a heart from me

The whole thing was really good, and it was definitely something very different from what has been seen.
The story was as good as every story that comes from Enoch, and the style ini which is presented makes it to a very touching one... It's actually a really big difference from everything that will come in this contest.
Plus, the way it was made was good, and your skills are definitely improving, Enoch.

Seriously though, thanks for taking the time to play and feedback on my level. I thought the lack of tales in the Fairytale contest needed addressing. Whilst LBP works best primarily as a platformer, I believe it is a viable medium for other artistic expression such as story telling (Jon Martins little big apocalypse) or creating pieces of art. I'm glad most people could follow the story and some read the deeper meanings within it (EZ was spot on). And for those of you who hate stories I even added a jungle gym called the game-nasium where you can mess around collecting points instead or maybe you could try some of MMs fine cheese selection..yummy.
