    REVIEW

    Jurassic Park

    Drlong

This level has been around for a while and recently has been upgraded and vastly improved upon and I have probably played this level MANY many times over its existence. The level follows the first film pretty closely and several moments in the film has made it into the level. Like I mentioned before this level has had many different versions and this latest version is a much darker scarier one with a lot less humor that it previously had though there is still a good bit of humor left in. The very first thing most people will probably notice is how detailed and beautiful this level is, this level is loaded with eye candy and each area is so detailed and has so much attention put into it you would think Steven Spielberg himself made this thing. One of the best parts is how Drlong managed to get every aspect of a LBP level into one level, a little bit of every thing is here, exciting plat forming, puzzles, vehicles, 2-player areas, there is a lot crammed into one level and it all flows together smoothly.
The horror elements don't start till a ways in but they are well done, a lot of it is the "did I just see that" type of thing were a shadow streaks by or a head walks past a window and such and there is tons of mood and atmosphere dumped down over it oh and don't worry there are plenty of "ah something jumped out at me" moments as well. The level is challenging but not supper hard though there is one area that is just evil, in an air vent you have dinos bursting tough the floors at you and this last time I played through I died like 50 times and then after it is a sponge that lifts you up yet I die when I grab it and when I come back its stuck down the hallway and I have to jar it back into place to get it to lift me up and I died about 50 more times.
Though on top of this I forgot the most important thing, this is so much fun, the adventure, humor and horror moments wield together so nicely it makes for such an entertaining ride LOADED with creative eye candy.

I have an odd feeling that this aint fantasy island.....

    Scenery: 10

A lot of work went into the look at this level and it really is one of the prettiest and most detailed levels I have seen, even inside the buildings are just amazing and so much of the movie is so detailed they look so much like the actual sets from the movie, the kitchen for example is very well done but every thing is just so majorly detailed that some of it is just mind boggling

I dare you to find better and more detailed signs then these in LBP.

    Game play 9

Like I said its all here and very well done, the plat forming is exciting and fun, the puzzles are interesting and not super complex and each obstacle is varied and unique.

    authenticity: 10

For levels based off stuff I replace originality with authenticity and this level has it in spades. Every thing looks like they just came from the movies from the cars and signs to the dinos themselves, you can just feel the love for the movies oozing off of this level and several moments from the film are right here and done just right.

This always happens when I go to get me some rocky road ice cream!

    Level Design: 9

Its amazing this level did not burn up by the time he was halfway through, every thing looks amazing and works almost perfectly. The "event" moments where something happens like a dinosaur pushing your car off a cliff flows smoothly with no slowdown or odd glitches.

Dinosaurs like their hamburgers rare... and still mooing.

    Fun factor: 9

I can go on and on about how fun this level is and I love how very little of it is shooting dinos with paint guns and how most of it is just you trying to run and survive a dinosaur paradise. This could of easily just been one giant paint gun dinosaur rampage but instead several elements like the puzzles and plat forming were added to offer a varied and fun mix of game play.

you heard of those days where you should have just stayed in bed? This is one of those days!

    Final grade= 9

I say without any worry of being corrected that this is the best Jurassic park level you are gonna find on LBP and I highly recommend anyone to give it a try even if you don't care much for the movies. It's loads of fun.

Thanks you very much for the review Arklon! Now I know exactly what to work on for the full verision.

The full verision will be Loads longer! I have about 50% thermo left to go crazy on so no worrys there.

I will go ahead and see what I can do with the ugly parts too,my intencion was to make the level look like the early days (Like in the BETA or the first month). Basic yet exiting and fun.

But yeah thank you for the review,I'll put soem more work in it and try to raise that 7 to an 8-9

    The Sun Gods Missing Headdress

    PSN: Uhhhhh5

The very first thing I noticed as I entered this level is how lush and pretty it was, I found myself standing in a green jungle and it looked good. The very second thing I thought was "ohh a mm made object" but right after that I realized I was wrong and that the creator actually re-made the swinging monkey object on its own and at first it kinda looks like mm's but after a second look is pretty easy to tell its self-made.

This is so pretty I may just build me a house here!

So a little on in the level you find out you are headed towards Ra's temple and once there you learn his headdress has been stolen and you must set out to get it back and this is pretty much all to the plot which is typical for a jungle temple adventure level but for once I would love a deeper story. I mean how about who stole it and why, in the level you just find it on an alter and that's it but it would of been nice to see why it was stolen and wouldn't whoever took it have it guarded in some way?
Anyway you go off for the headdress and there are plenty of obstacles and traps and some of the traps are brilliantly hidden though most of the obstacles we have seen before such as moving platforms under spiked ceilings and spinning sponges but some of them are different enough still to be fun and challenging. Though this level does feature something most lbp levels have forgotten about mine including and that is the sub-quests where you must halt your current objective and go perform another task so that you can continue on your original quest, this time its getting a banana for a monkey and I thought this added some depth to the adventure some.

There is a boss at the end I did not totally understand, you had to shot something off the boss then precede under fire bolls to get to a switch and once you push it, it pushes you back into danger, near the entrance to the boss room there is a box with hand stickers on it which I assumed had something to do with the fight but I could not find any way to use it but and a bunch of times hitting the switch the boss vanished and some smaller enemies appeared so I supposed I did what I was supposed to lol.

This is the long lost cousin to MM's swinging monkey.

    Originality: 5

Getting Ra's headdress is new but that's pretty much all there is to the plot, most of the obstacles have been seen before and I have played a zillion jungle temple adventures and this does not offer much new to the genre. At the end there is a surprise fire temple and its very interesting yet there is no story for it and I had no idea what was going on or who exactly I was up against.

This is why you do not eat mushrooms from Ra's temple

    Game play: 6

The game still manages to be fun, there is plenty to jump over, a banana to go get and some light puzzle work

    Level design: 7

The level itself is well made and there is very little frustration due to the makeup of the level though there was one point were I died and found myself stuck and the sponge hook had not come back down the hole for me to swing back up on and I had to restart the level and the boss fight is a tad confusing.

    Scenery: 8

Some great visuals here though there may be a oddity here and there such as the bosses body seemed to be plain and brown and had no detail to it.

Ra is one tall guy, no wonder his temple has huge doors!

    Fun factor: 6

A lot of the adventure though seen before is still pretty fun and the last part in the fire temple was very exciting and fun though the boss needs a little work.

    Final Grade: 6

This is a above average jungle temple romp with some very nice visuals and some fun game play elements thought I would love to see an epic story added to one of these jungle temple levels one day and there could be some more original pitfalls as well.

LITTLE RED RIDING SACK AND THE SNEAKY HEART FOR HEARTER

    By Mnniska

I have played a few of Mnniska's level and they all have been very creative and imaginative and almost always brought new ideas I had not seen before and this time he has going the fairy tale root by bringing use the LBP version of little red riding hood. The beginning starts with a lengthy and well made intro and begins the story and sets you off on your journey.

A long long time ago in a galaxy far away.... oops sorry,.... wrong level.

From the beginning at moms house the level design was impressive and very easy on the eyes and from here on you are hit by a variety of well thought out and clever puzzles and lots of hard to get to point bubbles to find. Just about all the puzzles here are interesting and fun, mnniska always seems to find very clever things to do with the paint gun other then killing enemies and this level is no exception. One of my favorites has you using the gun to hit switches to raise and lower columns and you have to jump from them as they raise and lower.

there is just something about mom that creeps me out, looks like she may have just crawled out of some one's TV set and scared them to death...

Another common thing in Mnniska's levels are the creative obstacles and there are a few here too, my favorite is where you most navigate through a tunnel with a jet pack that has a water tide coming and going and you must avoid the water because it will remove the jet pack and you need it to continue through.
Also another great thing I want to mention is halfway through you are thrown into the role of the big bad wolf and you are even given a paint make over off screen to help the transformation. I do not think I have really seen this before and its a nice touch. The wolf's path too is filled with danger and crafty puzzles and some mean surprises here and there. There are also some awesome "cinema" intros thrown in such as seeing the wolf running off cackling with the goods. As a last ingredient a lot of cuteness has been thrown on top such as the food being referred to as Yum which I thought was great.

wow water used as a obstacle element instead of just having something to swim in, who would of thought!?

    Level Design:9

The design is pretty much flawless, I very rarely got stuck or had trouble navigating through the level and all three layers are used to full potential. Though was one small issue or too of me not knowing to go because I could not see or notice the little cliff in the back layer I could jump on and things like that.

    Scenery: 9

The scenery is great, the whole level looks like a fairy tale forest and its full of none stop eye candy, there are some very small areas that are not decorated but its nothing really and its not really noticeable at all.

who said all classic fairy tales are dark and moody? Sure the wolf does still eats the grandma but errr.... that's besides the point!

    fun factor: 9

Oh this is very fun and challenging but not so challenging that it takes away from the fun, its satisfying to solve the puzzles and the obstacles are a blast to get through, could of used a boss (that's one of my weird things lol) but this being the first half of a story that is not really a issue at all.

    Game play: 10

clever and innovative puzzles, fun obstacles to clear, entertaining speech boxes and a variety of things to do make this a very memorable level.

    Final grade: 9

Mnniska has yet to get a low score from me, he is just good at what he does and what he does is creative and original puzzles and game play ideas. Sure people know me as loving well made player created enemies and such but that's not really mnniska's thing and I understand this, we all have our own interests and loves when creating and his is innovation and fun.

Wow,thanks alot for the review! You seem to have enjoyed it Just the way I want people to enjoy it too! I love when that happens. 8D

Hmm no cons though,I guess all I can do to the level from here is to add even more details and try to get out those empty-feeling areas, yeah i must agree with you on that, some parts Does feel a bit empty,I'm working on it.

thanks again for the kind words, iwsh me luck in the contest! xD
