Name - Moonlight by Beethoven.
Author - BLUEFIRE4
Forum User Name - Blue Fire
Things are going to be diffrent in this review as it is a Music level
First Impressions
Upon first viewing this level, it doesn't seem like anything special...
The heart to play ratio is roughly 1 in every 6, There is little description and there are 4 stars...
If you have no concept of music at all, and hadn't heard of Beethoven, then you mightn't even be aware this was a music level.
I however knew that taking on a song of this magnitude would be a technical feat! This is a very well known song, if you dont know it by name, you have probably heard it by sound..
Presentation
It's Complicated to do this for a music level... I find myself asking ''does presentation count for a music level?''
I'll just tell it how it is...
You step onto your crescent moon vehicle, which begins to move due to the ''sensor switch'' you can see in the photo, as apposed to the usual ''boxes of sound'' you see in most music levels, BlueFire goes for his own Dark matter small switches, this was most likely due to the length of the song, and necessary for room... Its also very impressive looking.
On the moon there is a blue light shining on you as the moon moves... ergo, moonlight
*The image takes out the fog effect of the light*
what i would do diffrent for the presentation is add a black backround and have speckled lights, resembeling the stars, i think it could add great atmosphere to the level...
The sheer scale of the switches is a presentation in itself.
Length
For the easily distracted LBP player he may leave halfway through.. It is about 6minutes long and for them 6 minutes your looking at switches and standing still... I thouroughly enjoyed the 6minutes enough to go back and listen again!
Likeness
This is about 95% like the actual song... It amazes me how BlueFire pulled this off.
Problems
If you jump off the moon, it can be very hard to get back on due to its height... I imagine this has been done a few times because of the length of the level and people may grow restless... i managed to get back on after a couple minutes by jumping on the switches...
The Sound...
It's a dark song... sinister... and full of sorrow.
Ludwig Van Beethoven - Piano Sonata No.14 "Moonlight Sonata"
Lasting Appeal
This is an amazing music level... It really is one of the best music levels, if not THE best music level i have played... I love the song and it is done as perfect as LBP will allow. BlueFire has a serious talent for this, (i played his other music levels) Keep it up!
90%
***** - 5 Stars!!! That's my highest rated level so far!
