    Default Lightbringer

    Title: LightBringer
    Author: Trindall
Level Description: “A prophecy from an age long past told of a Hero that would cleanse the land of a dark evil. Yet the Hero never came and the evil scoured the land. You find yourself in this dead kingdom, can you bring light back to the land?”

    Introduction
I've wanted to try my hand at a level that didn't move, shift or rotate. A level where I can pull the view back and give the player wider, more open environments.

This level is the culmination of ideas, themes and images raised in other games, books and movies and puts the player into the role of an unknowing hero that is destined to defeat an ancient evil.

There is a great deal of depth to the back-story and psychology of the antagonist for those wanting to look for it though it. (Both implicitly and explicitly explored in the level.) But I've worked hard to make the level accessible and fun for those wanting depth as well for those simply wanting a straightforward level.

I'd like to thank those who helped test this level out prior to its release and I have to give the well-deserved, extra helping of thanks and appreciation to Nirvana who has consistently worked to find and poke each corner and for holes and problems. Thank you all.

I appreciate your time and focus on this level. I'd be happy to hear back in regards to any complaints, issues or comments regarding the level.

Ehm, I don't know about privelegies, but it seems you have forgotten the QPQ rule Might wanna edit it in, I know you have reviewed and left feedback on heck so many levels. (Noticed this isn't even needed due to your reviews there in the sig )

Will try this out later today, going to my dad, so I'll check this out.

You are correct on the need for QPQ on the level post. I didn't even think about the reviews I've done for the Review Team being used for QPQ though I think it may be a technicality.

This level post comes at the end of a long night of level tweaking, publishing and forum posting and I forgot to get my QPQ entries lined up and I have the intention of not falling back on the reviews I've done for my QPQ entries for long.

By this time tomorrow I should have fresh feedback for current levels to replace those with.

Thank you for reminding me of this.

    Cheers.

A great level! An innovative gameplay device trying to bring the light with you to conquer the shadowy forces of darkness, This level has a real depth and substance to it, it's not just an exercise in technical implementation. The puzzles are logical and accessible and players feel satisfaction when they manage to relay the light further and further with each attempt.
The story element is handled with a deftness of touch and is not intrusive and adds a greater layer of depth to the playing experience.
I know the thermometer must be at boiling point so any additional content would be hard to squeeze in, but I'd like to see some innocents being saved by the light.
The biggest compliment I can pay this level is I found it very Ico-esque, my favourite game ever!

Alrighty, I had the privilage of playing this level this morning, and boy was I impressed.

Anyway, initial impressions are excellent on this level, in fact they are probably the best I have ever had. From the start of the level, if you walk to the left, you will see the ocean, and trust me, this is the best ocean you will ever see! I can only imagine how much thermo all of that takes up (I have made those wave platforms in the past and I know that one set up them is not cheap), but boy is it pleasing to the eyes. I actually think that the water there is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen in LBP. Not only are there wave, but the tide actually rises up and falls! Incredible job on that Trindall, I could write an entire page on how how well you did with that water

Well, I'm not going to go into to many details since this is not a review, but I loved the light mechanic that went throughout the whole level. The way you had the light sort of flash on when it starts up (it blinks a little before it fully lights up) really helps the atmosphere. So does the fact that the darkness growls at you sometimes and moves a bit.

The whole darkness scenario as well as the environment (but no the story) reminded me strongly of ICO. It just had that "Huge Castle" feel to it. Plus, ICO was very focused on the mysterious darkness.

One other object/creature/thing I was very impressed with was the main "bad guy". The mix of solid objects and smoke that are moving give it almost a liquid like quality. It just looked very unique and I loved. Great job with that.

Ok, I think I am going to shut up now. This is all boring I'm sure, I'm just trying to get across that I loved the level, and let other people know that they NEED to play it.

have played this level through a few times and loved it, funny everyone is saying it reminds them of ICO, i didn't even think of that but i can see what you mean. i was thinking of the dark crystal haha but anyway.

this level is excellent, as Poo said, the water is exceptional. and that isn't even part of the gameplay. this a different step from the flipping levels i loved of yours so much in the past, but it is just as good
i suggest everyone try it out.
