When i join games with my friends online or they join me in the pod if it actually lets us then when we start a game and sometimes it will let us play the game sometimes not we get kicked back to pod then if it does work when the race is over we never stay together.. this is happening with me and my friends so i know its not just my game.

This occasionally happens with me and my friend who has TERRIBLE Internet connection. I'd think that's your problem.

I'm not sure of the technical explanation but different internet connections are often a casue of this.
When loading a level presumably each player would have to download or access temporary data about the level they are about to play, as players download the data they ma be doing so at very different rates thus a player without the necessary data would be unable to process the information on their ps3 and get booted as a result.

Hmm I agree with enoch, this happens to me more on LBP2 though..
