American Beauty

Rate this Entry
Just watched American Beauty for the first time.
Don't know how to describe it but I'm overwhelmed by a deep inner feeling of.. serenity, prosperity?
Have never been so moved by a film before, has changed my way of thinking.
The only word I can think to describe the film with is exactly what it says on the tin. Beautiful.

It should be made a law that you have to watch this film, I'd strongly recommend it to anyone in their late teens onwards (if you watch it younger you might not be able to appreciate the theme).

I know the effect will have worn off by tomorrow, but I really hope I keep the message close to me. It would drastically improve my view of life.

If you've been meaning to watch this, go and watch it.
If you've never watched it, add it to your list.
And if you've watched it, what effect did it have on you?

It's about peoples different views of Beauty, but in a brilliantly subtle way.
Just read that it won 5 oscars..
And that it's R rated, so I should probably make a point to suggest people under 16 not to watch it, yet xD

Nah, seriously, they are a bit.. heavy.
Books have got a few really horrible scenes not really suitable for a younger reader, I don't want your mum holding me responsible xP
They're better appreciated the older you are anyway, so just hold out

Yeah, I know a bit about them already.. won't really just go kidnap, I respect my mum cause she's fair fair to me, but if my dad had told me off then I probably wouldn't. Hehe, he actually said I could just go read them

I'll stick to Harry Potter!! Nothing can beat that anyways

no clue who that author is.... oh well...
yes i am old and wrinkly but with those wrinkles, comes LOTS of superb movie viewing experiences
wanna see a movie that will make you just sit there and wonder what it was you just watched... thus making you wanna watch it again to see if you missed somwthing.... try some of David Lynch's movies Wild at Heart (my fav) , Lost Highway (you will seriously scratch your head trying to figure this one out), Mulholland Drive (same with this one, read into them what you will, the director does it on purpose ) Blue Velvet(NOT for the kiddies)..., even Dune (his least favorite) or Elephant Man... anyway, a lot of his movies are open to different ideas of what happened... thats why i like his movies, great for discussions
