Can someone explain how I make what looks like running water in a level....? Also the paths that just fall once you walk on them...

I just played a level with both of this in and want to try and use a similar idea for a level.

Thanks

Hum, I'm not completely sure what you mean but I think this would work:
for the water, use tiny pieces of glass (maybe with a light blue sticker on them)
for the falling paths, make the paths connected to dissolve material that dissolves as soon as the player is on it

Thanks with regards to the path I'll try that. But the water.... it wasnt a sticker, it actually looked like it was moving... the level I saw it on was Little Big Cruise...by MMA-T-DOG.... after you get off the boat etc there is a section of glass material that looks as though it is moving... not sure how it was done... clever tho.

try the level Hungry, Hungry, Capybara, by tjapan. best water effects on a waterfall in all of LBP! It is a very quick level, and you will see it like two minutes into the level. It is hard to explain(i can try to build my own demo and send it to you), but i believe he emitted the glass. Based on the shape of the glass(he used thin, jagged pieces that look very believable), and the emitter settings(they need to disappear and reappear very quickly), you should be able to get the flowing look going. it is very hard to describe, especially since i havent built something like it yet, but if you are interested, i will try to make a version of it and send to you. let me know if your interested! :)

Hiya, sorry, just saw this... I went back and played the level again and stood on the 'water' and you are right, they are small bits of glass but they move so quick and close together that its really believable! I'm gonna give it a go tomorrow but if I cant work it out I may need some help. Thanks V1.

Anyone know how to make 'em? My upcoming project is a free-roaming stranded type of level, where you have to find food and firewood in order to survive one day. There's a spot in my level wherein a waterfall would fit in perfectly. If anyone knows how to make one, (the ones with long strips of glass flowing down endlessly) please let me know. :D

i'd say emmiters in multiple layers and timed exactly right.. Maybe use one thick layer and thin layer in front of it? :) (this is for a straight waterfall btw :P)

Maxed Out 2 has a moving waterfall in it. Is TJapans better?

I have a waterfall in a level I'm developing, it doesn't move but if I could find a technique that suits I might incorporate it

i will have to play maxed out 2, but at this point tjapan has the best waterfall effect i have seen in a level. check it out p10, its a very easy going, calm, quick level, and you will see the waterfall about two minutes into the level. He also used a very cool paintball effect for a water splash that i REALLY enjoyed! check it out when you get a chance. hey LLBP, how is that waterfall going for you? or did the wrestlefest competition slow you down?
